Only the best web videos at Modern Feed

Modern Feed iPhone iPod touch Video

There is no shortage of web video sites out there that are either trying to ride in the wake of YouTube’s success, or offer something that YouTube doesn’t have. Hulu is probably the best new web video site to be released lately featuring high quality video produced by the big television and movie studios instead of the user-generated type at YouTube. However, Hulu’s Flash video format doesn’t work on the iPhone, which is why we were delighted to discover Modern Feed yesterday. Modern Feed is a directory of web videos, all of which have either met or surpassed the quality criteria set by the staff of Modern Feed. The site’s human-powered filter ensures that all the videos are not only good quality, but also are hosted on responsive servers. Modern Feed doesn’t host the actual videos, they merely provide an easy way to find them. And part of the Modern Feed directory is devoted exclusively to web videos that are compatible with the iPhone and iPod touch.

iPhone tip - Let the amazing vTap find web video for you

vTap iPhone Video

Last fall, we were very excited to tell you about the newly launched vTap which gives you YouTube and much more. vTap is a web video aggregator that makes it easy to access quality video on your iPhone or iPod touch. vTap actively collects video content from over 50,000 sites like YouTube, ESPN, and the New York Times. vTap automatically converts videos into an iPhone compatible format using QuickTime. In addition to a browse by topic feature, vTap offers several ways to find content and has added one new feature specifically designed for mobile users. vTap’s search feature has always been handy, auto suggesting content while you’re typing which reduces tapping on your touch screen. vTap’s newest “feed” feature continuously pumps new content into a topics category that you set up one time. This makes using vTap on the iPhone and iPod touch much more passive giving you more time to enjoy videos instead of looking for them.

Turn your iPhone or iPod touch into an external storage device

iPhoneDrive

We kind of expected Apple to give us the ability to use our iPhones and iPod touches as external storage devices by now, but that has not come to pass. We would love the convenience of dropping files onto the iPhone to transfer them between Macs. Thankfully, Ecom Network has developed a great little utility that lets us do just that, and a little bit more. iPhoneDrive turns your iPhone and iPod touch into an an external drive so you can back up files and transfer them to another Mac. You can also use iPhoneDrive to access media files on your device such as music, videos, photos, and notes.

Apple screws the pooch again

Dog iPhone

Now that the Macworld hysteria has settled we can reflect upon Apple’s announcements this week with unbiased perspective. The purported “leaked keynote” turned out to be as counterfeit as Fake Steve Jobs, and more likely leaked by the real Steve Jobs to ferret out dissidents within the ranks at Apple. Either way, heads will surely roll over that folly. But before we talk about the pooch Apple is trying to mount up doggie style, let’s take a look at the latest revelations from Apple.
