One bad Apple…

Apple’s first salvo against iPhone hackers has finally dropped in the form of an iPhone firmware update, available today. At least Apple is warning users before they install the update that they run the risk of bricking their iPhone if they proceed. Apparently, the update tries to remove Installer.app.
Many users have removed their 3rd party apps before accepting the new firmware and have not experienced any problems. But this may be a problem for unlocked iPhones so we recommend that you do NOT update your firmware until you are able to restore your unlocked iPhone to its factory-fresh state. A tool that will help you do this is on the way.
Have you experienced any problems with this update?

updated froze my touch and i had to restore all. This was a fresh ipod touch with no “unclean” software additions.
I didn’t have problems at all after I listened to those guys on the Tuesday Night Tech show the other night–they said not to do the update.
i did the update without knowing and my 3rd party apps were gone… i tried running ibrickr again and restoring my phone but my i phone would not go into the restore mode…
