Google surprise! An all-new iPhone interface

Quietly and without warning, Google has launched a full-fledged iPhone version of all the core Google services rolled up into one easy to use menu. This new iPhone menu includes all the great Google apps we know so well (Search, Gmail, Calendar, Reader, Docs, SMS, Goog-411, News, Photos, Blogger, and Notebook). This new interface has that familiar iPhone UI which has already been adopted by many other sites such as Facebook.
The screens are simple, intuitive, responsive, and work well for multi-touch interaction. To access Google for iPhone, simply go to Google.com which will recognize your device and serve up the optimized version of the site automatically.

i cannot reach google.com from the Netherlands….
Adress is automatically changed to goole.nl/m ..
Does anyone know how to prevent this??
Eddie, Google is doing geo-targeting, serving up their local version of Google based on your IP address. What you need to do is find a proxy service you can use when you access the web from your iPhone. I’ve seen a few of these services, mainly they are used for anonymous web browsing (like anonymizer.com). There should be a free one out there. I’ll look around, but you may want to keep an out on our Touchtip Forums to see if anyone else can help. Maybe start a new topic?
Does anyone know of something our international audience can use to get around Google’s geoblocking?
I’m in Australia, and entering http://www.google.com on my ipod touch redirects me to the mobile app under http://www.google.com.au. However, when I entered http://www.google.com/m I got the new Google Apps. ice interface, and very quick switching between mail/calendar and reader, my biggest reason for using safari on the touch!
Hope this helps
Nick, Thanks a lot!!! That did the trick!
Oh man, this is so well done that even on Edge it looks like a real app. No lag, works great!
Nice, thanks Nick. I’m in Canada, and was having the same trouble. Your tip got me around the geo-targeting perfectly.
Cheers man!
sweet hack for those wanting to avoid the geo-targeting. Thanks
Thanks for the tip - another Canadian here.
Another question too - is the gmail interface also now optimized for iPhone/iPod? If so, I would then get a gmail address to use on my iPod Touch.
Jeremy — is is, and has been for quite some time.
Point your iPod Touch browser to:
m.gmail.com
Thanks… the gmail interface does indeed work on the iPod screen, except when you go to log in: it’s really tiny and never remembers my log-in info even though I click “remember me”.
hey i hv a Q, bout my ipd touch and my pc..each time i try to restore it into the itunes thingy..it always appear..”error(6)” wat can i do? and now my ipd is not working..all it appear is the pic of the plug in and the box music..how can i do?
Yep, that’s great, but… you can’t edit Google Docs documents, just read them :S
Would be great being able to edit docs while you’re on the bus going home or similar.
Let’s hope them to improve it!
