YouTube (and more) for the iPod touch and iPhone

Searching the web for videos to watch has been limited to YouTube for iPhone and iPod touch owners. vTap from Veveo is heaven-sent, giving users another option to watch online videos. The problem with watching web videos on the iPhone and iPod touch is that they have to be encoded with a specific version of QuickTime, and most web videos are not available in this format. vTap solves this problem with on-th-fly encoding which takes web video in any format and encodes it for the device you have. This eliminates having to search the web for videos compatible for your device and makes the world of web video wide open for your consumption on the iPod touch and iPhone. Joy.
The encoding process is done completely on the server. And since this encoding process can take some time (depending on the size of the video), vTap fills in this dead air by serving you abstracts of RSS feeds which, by the way, are customizable (for Newsvine, Google News, Yahoo Finance, and Flickr). Tapping on any of the feeds takes you to the story while the video continues to encode. With vTap you can also choose to only listen to the audio so you can listen to long dialog heavy videos while your screen is turned off. This is great for listening to lecture videos from MIT or Berkely.
