Watch movie trailers on your iPhone or iPod touch

View movie Trailers on iPhone and iPod touch

For many developers it appears as though the iPhone is simply an excuse to sneak advertisements further within your sight pattern. This is directly in line with many of the more recent trends that are attempting to raise the pervasive nature of technology by blurring the lines of art or entertainment and advertising. This is not to say that all of these are bad, however.

Throughout the last several generations one of the only tolerable advertisements seems to be movie trailers. It is a common feature to see hordes of crowds hurrying to the theater far before the feature begins just so they can see the previews once the curtain gets pulled away. Now with the iPhone app, Trailersicon, we can get a little bit of that joy streaming behind our touch screen.

Trailers iPhone app

The Trailers application understands perfectly the demands of most iPhone users who find short video segments, like movie trailers, to be the easiest possible thing to watch. It is blatant advertising, but since trailers tend to go on their own rhythm and linear story line it is much more forgivable.

The application starts us out with a number of different tabs to help us organize our requests. The opening tab gives us some of the most recent and popular trailers to arrive, while you can also look into generic categories or make specific film searches. Once you find the film that you want you can view its profile and then select one of its many trailers to download and view. The only major deterrent to this software is that you absolutely must be using a Wi-Fi network, and even then it can be slow at times. This makes it ideal for iPhone or iPod touch users who already expect to rely on a good Wi-Fi connection.

The number of movies that are available remain astonishing, and has crept to well over 1200. It would be nice to see an all encompassing movie application that would give information and play times, as well as trailers, but it seems as though no application will be able to bring this kind of depth. If you have a constant curiosity to see what films have come out, as well as looking back at great trailer moments, you should check out this application.
