Smart and savvy grocery shopping with GroceryIQ, saves time and money

GroceryIQ iPhone app

Let’s face it, grocery shopping is a chore for most of us. Shopping lists ease the pain a bit, but they still take time to write for each visit, especially if you want add specific details about each item. Now imagine how much more efficient your shopping would be if your list had “Jif Peanut Butter, Extra Crunchy, 18 oz.” instead of just “peanut butter”. It ensures that you will buy exactly what you need without waffling around with all the different brands and sizes on the shelf.

GroceryIQicon is a shopping organizer for your iPhone or iPod touch that comes preloaded with over 130,000 items. Each item contains the kind of detail you need such as exact brand, weight, size, packaging, etc. This kind of detail comes in especially handy if you require a specific item for a coupon, or if you want someone else to run to the store for you. However, GroceryIQ goes much further by adding some great features like sorting your list by aisle, customizing item sizes, and adding notes.

Adding items to your list is made easy with a search box that has a type-ahead suggest feature so you can select items quickly before having to tap in its entire name. The thought of having to put an entire shopping list like this may seem daunting at first, but it surprisingly fast and gets even quicker for subsequent lists. GroceryIQ’s Favorites features keeps all your frequently purchased items just a tap away, and the History feature lets you look at items you bought in the past but may not appear on your Favorites list.

Keeping your shopping list on your iPhone or iPod touch is much more convenient than having to write it on your fridge or kitchen chalkboard. Many times you will think of things you need but won’t be near your kitchen, but you’ll always have your iPhone nearby. GroceryIQ also lets you share your lists with anyone via email. This is terrific if you ask your spouse to stop at the store, or if you need someone else to share the shopping with you.

There is a plethora of list type applications out there, and many are specifically designed for grocery shopping. However, GroceryIQ is clearly the best one available, and by a long shot. The interface is simple and intuitive, the database is extremely deep, and the features all combine into an almost perfect application that makes grocery shopping, dare we say, fun.

At $4.99, GroceryIQicon may sound a little expensive just for a grocery list manager, but this app will save you time and money and pay for itself on your first trip to the store.

Dear Grocery iQ, I love the list but need a bit more instruction. After checking off the groceries I want (from the main list I have created) how can I see a consolidated list of just what I have checked off?

    Am I using this correctly?

    Many thanks
    LM

Hmm. I am trying to figure this out. Do I create a master list in Favorites and then just tick them off and my list appears in the “List”. Then when I am done I touch the cart and everything disappears from my list?

What I have done is created a master list in “List” and then I can’t figure out “Favorites” and “History”. I need a bit more instruction.

Please help. I LOVE the idea.

    Thanks
    LM

“Share lists via email” is a bit of an exaggeration. You can send a “text” version of a list via email, but not “share” it in a bi-directional way. with my wife and I sharing grocery list responsibilities to “whoever goes by the store first”, the inability for my wife and I to share/sync the list kills it.

If we could send each other an XML file or something or sync with a central data store this thing would be the bomb.
