Wakoopa is yet another entry into the starting-to-get-crowded space of iphone & ipod touch web app directories. It seems like a new one pops up every week or so, and we even stopped mentioning them because they are all starting to look the same. The last one to make a splash was the recently released web app directory at Apple.com. Wakoopa is a bit different though, and in a good way, so it’s worth a little face time here.
Unlike Apple’s official directory, Wakoopa is optimized for the iPhone and iPod touch display. It uses the familiar iPod slider interface which makes it very easy to navigate. And yes, there are other web app directories out there that also use the slider UI, but what makes Wakoopa unique is it’s social network features that allow you to see what apps other people are using.
