iPhone sites hiding in plain sight

iPhone hiding in plain sight

You may have noticed by now that many web sites are offering a version of their site optimized specifically for iPhone and iPod touch. One common method for serving up these sites is to create a subdomain which replaces the ‘www’ with ‘iphone’ to produce a URL like this, ‘iphone.somesite.com’. Some iPhone web sleuths out there have been typing this into their browsers to see if a site has an iPhone version that may be in stealth mode for testing, or perhaps a private beta like the Food Network iPhone site at iphone.foodnetwork.com. However, there is one cool trick to finding a lot of these sites all at once.

Go to Google and type this into the search box, “site:http://iphone.*.com/” and you will see hundreds of sites optimized for iPhone and iPod touch. Or you can tap the link below to get there quicker and save you some typing. And if you find any sites worth looking at, let us know.
