Go get your Dark Side on with Star Wars: The Force Unleashed

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed for iPhone and iPod touch

We don’t know about you, but we feel like we’ve been giving money to George Lucas for thirty years and it looks like there’s no end in sight. Maybe it’s his Jedi Mind Trick taking over our wallets. This week, we gladly drop ten more bucks in his pocket so we can have Star Wars: The Force Unleashedicon on our iPhones. This game has slick 3D graphics and touch screen gameplay that translates finger gestures into actions for using the Force.

In Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, you play Starkiller, a secret Sith apprentice to Darth Vader hell bent to destroy the last remaining Jedi. For you Star Wars timeline continuity geeks, this story takes place between the events in the movies Episode III and Episode IV. This is, of course, after the Great Jedi Purge that left remnants of Jedi scattered across the galaxy.

Lucas pretty much invented the movie merchandise industry and it shows with this game release. Star Wars: The Force Unleashed was developed to tie-in with a novel, a comic book, and action figures, which pretty much means more money out of our pockets and into George’s. Jane, stop this crazy thing.

The game is now available in the App Store for $9.99 at the link below. It already has over 200 user reviews with a four star rating. Is it that good? We think so. It is very enjoyable, but might be a let down if you are expecting the kind of game quality found on console games. Truth be told, we just love having Star Wars on our iPhones and iPod touches.

Now what are you waiting for? Go get your Dark Side on.
