…just a great way to downgrade from
1.1.3 back to 1.1.1 if you need to jailbreak.

I dont know if everybody knows this or not but the earphone that comes with iphone supports pause and skip functionality for ipod function. Just click it once and it pauses the music and twice to skip to next track. as you may already know it answers or hangs-up the phone fucntionality with just one click.

I was one of the early hackers that bricked my iPhone with AnySim, but was able to restore it to full glory with the 1.1.3 firmware update. It took a little finagling but was well worth it. This how-to guide can help you with your bricked iPhone.

One of the new features in 1.1.3 is web clipping which allows you to put a direct link to a web page right on your springboard. These are different than bookmarks in that a clipping will link to a specific part of a web page and it remembers the zoom level you were at. If you have a web site and want to add one of these, simply create a png icon at least 57×57 pixels, name it “apple-touch-icon.png”, and upload to the root of your web directory (same level as your home page)). The icon can be larger, just make sure it’s square. I noticed Touchtip already has one so go ahead and create a web clip now to see how it looks.

Use Tooble to download videos from YouTube and import them to iPod touch and iPhone with a single click. This was handy for me to get the Tom Cruise acting crazy video before Scientology lawyers got the videos pulled from YouTube this week. I like it because you can go to your favorites list in YouTube and take them with you for viewing offline later. It runs on your Mac desktop, not your iPhone, but it is free.

If you’re like me and can’t stay away from your Mac, you should try LogMeIn free for Mac. This cool application allows you to access and control your Mac from your iPhone! I assume it also works for the iPod touch but haven’t tried it yet. I have used the windows version for years and have really liked it.

When in the world is Apple going to add cut-and-paste? This would save me so much time and it’s basic functionality you’d expect to already be there. Fortunately, I found this little tool that will give me something close to cut-and-paste. It’s a bookmarklet called Quasi Clipboard which let’s me cut-and-paste text when using Safari. I use it to give me faster password and username entry to certain web sites, but you can use it for any text entry field.
