Force Your iPhone to Learn New Words
Submitted by Beanish
The iPhone will supposedly learn new words so that you can tap them in quicker with the auto correct feature. However, this learning algorithm doesn’t seem to apply to all iPhone apps. I use the Notes app all the time and I was really getting frustrated that some of the jargon words I use often were not getting “learned” by my iPhone. I then recalled how Safari tends to remember new words, so I went to Google’s home page in Safari and tapped the words into the search field that I wanted my iPhone to remember. After that, I went back to Notes and voila, the new words were now available as I tapped. So if you want to force your iPhone to learn new words, tap them into Google using Safari to ensure that they get stored in the iPhone’s keyboard text database.
Disable iPhone 3G GPRS or Edge Connections
Submitted by Val Vega
This is a great trick if you have kids that play with your iPhone and you’re worried about them using the network. Tap into your network settings (Setting > General > Network > Cellular Data Network). In the “APN, Username and Password” field, type in any words so that your iPhone will not pass the correct values to the service providers thus preventing network access. You may have to restart your iPhone after changing the values.
Force Quit a Frozen App
Submitted by gmonkey
I admit it, I’m an app whore. I download all kinds of free apps to try them out, mostly games. There are some great free apps to be had in the App Store, and so many crappy ones that crash. I used to have to restart my iPhone whenever an app froze on me, but now I just hold the home button down for about six seconds to force quit the frozen app. Why don’t they tell you this in the manual? Not that anyone would read it anyways, but still.
Fast Forward and Rewind Music and Videos
Submitted by jj_tigereye
Did you know you can fast forward or rewind music and videos quicker than using the skip button? You can do this by touching and holding the skip forward or skip backward button. I find this trick especially handy when viewing videos on my iPod touch.
Find the Hidden Scientific Calculator
Submitted by Daniel Burkowski
Okay, I had no idea the iPhone came with a scientific calculator until I stumbled on it quite by accident. Maybe I’m not the only person who didn’t know this trick so I thought I’d share it here. Fire up the calculator on your iPhone or iPod touch, then turn it to landscape mode. This brings up the scientific calculator! I wish I had known this earlier this year when I was in calc class.
Migrate Your Data from Any Cell Phone to iPhone
Submitted by Diana Payne
I found this handy utility that helped me migrate contacts, events, tasks, notes, bookmarks, photos, music and movies to my new iPhone 3G. It’s called Fone2Phone.

hi…very useful info really…can any1 please tell me if its possible to capure video with iphone?
@rubana – the new iPhone 3GS does have native video capture. if you don’t have the 3GS but have an older version, the only way to record video is to jailbreak (hack) your iPhone and load a third-party video app like Cycorder
Adding a web page (site) to your home screen: When viewing a web page, press the +button on the bottom of the screen to bring up the following options: Add Bookmark, Add to Home Screen, and Mail Link to this Page. When you select “Add to Home Screen”, it will remember your exact position on the page and automatically generate a thumbnail icon that appears on your home screen. From your iPod Touch try this one: ipodxpert.wordpress.com for future references or iphonemoviez.net/blog/movie-database/ to watch free movies on your iPod Touch.
