Dailymotion, a European competitor to YouTube, has figured out a clever way to deliver web video to the iPhone without using the YouTube application. Dailymotion videos are specially encoded for Quicktime, unlike the YouTube videos which require the still absent Adobe Flash. This allows streaming video to play right inside Safari.
