Dailymotion delivers video to iPhone’s Safari

Dailymotion, a European competitor to YouTube, has figured out a clever way to deliver web video to the iPhone without using the YouTube application. Dailymotion videos are specially encoded for Quicktime, unlike the YouTube videos which require the still absent Adobe Flash. This allows streaming video to play right inside Safari. Dailymotion’s interface is very intuitive and will feel natural to any iPod owner.

Alert: iFuntastic 2.0 is causing damage to iPhones

Many iPhone owners are complaining that iFuntastic 2.0 has jacked up their iPhone’s OS and may even void the warranty. iFuntastic is a custom ringtone application. Version 2.0 also allegedly let’s you reorder your icons and change your carrier logo. It’s best to stay away from this one.

Clever hack: Create iPhone ringtones from iTunes previews

Today’s iPhone hack-du-jour uses iTunes preview files for ringtones. As you probably know, iTunes freely offers short audio samples of its entire library. You can easily download these samples from iTunes and install them onto your iPhone as custom ringtones. iRovr: The iPhone Social Network

iRovr, the social network built specifically for the iPhone, is about blogging, sharing photos, videos, and bookmarks, and making friends. Nearly everything you do on iRovr is done by email. When you sign up at the site with your primary iPhone email account, iRovr sends you a list of account specific email addresses to add to you address book. Writing to one enters a blog post, sending pictures to another posts photos, etc. This means that interacting with iRovr doesn’t even require being on the site itself.

iSkin ships its Revo case for the iPhone

The Revo is a silicone case that protects the iPhone. It comes with a polycarbonate “ViSORâ€? that protects the face of the iPhone. Also included with the Revo is what iSkin calls a “privacy film.â€? It’s a touch-compatible thin transparent film that prevents casual viewers from seeing what’s on your iPhone if they’re looking at it from an angle (think “iPhone PRON on the subway”). The silicone is coated with Microban, an antimicrobial layer that’s designed to help inhibit the growth of fungi and bacteria so you can pass it around without spreading germs.
